Credibility

• GlaxoSmithkline Consumer Healthcare: Each quarter after announcing the financial results, the Finance Director conducts a teleconference where he answers questions posed by employees at different locations.

• Johnson & Johnson: conducts a Strategic Roadmap Meeting which is a large-scale interactive process (LSIP) of communicating with employees and getting their buy-in on the strategic goals set by the company. This is a theme based motivational event.

• Philips Software: Philips Software has a unique forum called 'Express yourself' through which employees can express themselves in an informal way by writing their thoughts on white boards provided in the cafeteria. Also 'Watch this space' boards have been provided on every floor near the lift to invite meaningful one-liners every day from employees.

• Fedex Corporation: FXTV, the company's satellite television network is one of the world's largest private TV networks broadcasting updates to 1200 FedEx sites worldwide. FXTV is one of the more innovative ways FedEx keeps far flung employees informed about corporate goals and initiatives. This is an interactive media where employees have an opportunity to share their ideas and feedback.

• Infosys Technologies Ltd: Infosys has always believed in encouraging entrepreneurial talent internally. Organizations like YANTRA (providing enterprise software that gives companies control over distributed orders and inventory) ONMOBILE (Wireless communication services) and PROGEON (an organization working in the Business Process Management space) have branched out of Infosys and the management teams of these companies constitutes primarily of past employees of Infosys who have shown tremendous entrepreneurial skills and have demonstrated success in the past assignments in Infosys.

• Cadbury India Limited: Cadbury's has a corporate anthem, based on the theme of working together which has been developed by an in-house cross-functional team of employees and is refreshed each year to include new members of team Cadbury. They also have an annual theme which is to ensure that the employees are aware of and focus on the current priorities of the business.

• Eli Lilly & Co.(India) Pvt. Ltd: Eli Lilly has a Red Book on Code of Business Conduct which provides standards for conducting business consistent with the company's legal obligations, global policies and core values. Employees are taken through the Corporate values, vision and mission and Red Book. There is a structured training program on the Red Book and the employees are required to sign the Responsibility Statement of the Red Book to certify that they agree to comply with the principles and values


Respect

• Fedex Corporation: Each time a plane is added to the FedEx fleet, employees can submit their child's name and draw is organized to select one name which gets painted near the cockpit window.

• Computer Sciences Corporation India (P) Ltd: In CSC, in the sabbatical policy, not only does the Company pays for the fees of higher qualifications being acquired by any employee, any break in service for acquiring higher qualifications is treated as work experience for the purpose of determining seniority within the Organisation, and there is an assured job for the employees after completion of his/her course.

• Aviva Life Insurance Co. India Pvt. Ltd: In an attempt to encourage work-life balance all employees are required to compulsorily avail a minimum of 15 days annual leave in a year. It is the responsibility of the Reporting Managers/ Supervisors to ensure that the employees reporting to them proceed on this mandatory leave.

• Sasken Communication Technologies Limited: The organization has a “Hibernation” Policy, which states that, after completing 4 years of service, an employee is eligible to take a vacation of 6-week duration to rethink and re-plan his/her career or just to take a break, relax and rejuvenate.

• Aviva Life Insurance Co. India Pvt. Ltd: Aviva has introduced the 'Ideas 4 Aviva' scheme, wherein every member ofAviva has an open invitation to influence any aspect of business by giving suggestions and ideas on how to work smarter and better. The ideas are reviewed by a cross functional 'Ideas Task Force' whose role is to shortlist and evaluate winning ideas and facilitate their implementation. Project managers are assigned to every winning idea who build on the idea, explore implementation scope and involve designate members including the 'idea-generator'. While idea generators with winning ideas are publicly recognised and awarded gifts, to ensure people keep sending in their ideas, ongoing feedback is provided to all personnel on ideas received, their feasibility 'rating' and implementation status.

• Cadbury India Limited: Within one month of moving into the role a 3 day re-induction program is held for people promoted to senior leadership roles.

• Fedex Corporation: Pay Exception is a procedure at FedEx, which allows managers to recommend and give exceptional pay increases to their highly performing employees when it is not covered by normal policy.

Fairness

• Fedex Corporation: At FedEx, problems, complaints, or concerns of employees may be addressed through the Guaranteed Fair Treatment Process (GUARANTEED FAIR TREATMENT POLICY). The policy affirms the employee's right to appeal any eligible issue through a process of systematic review by progressively higher levels of management and ensures fair evaluations.

• Texas Instruments: Workspaces that are open, similar sized and similarly equipped. And no privileges related to parking either.

• Computer Sciences Corporation India (P) Ltd: All of CSC employees are entitled to receive the same recognition rewards for performance and there is no discrimination done in any way.

Pride

• Mindtree Consulting: From the very beginning, MindTree has been active in its social responsibilities. Infact, MindTree has identified social responsibility as one of its core values and therefore, regularly encourages it in the organization. It has adopted an old age home and a home for children of Sri Lankan refugees in Bangalore. Every third Saturday, MindTree Minds visit these places and spend half a day with the inmates there.

• Sapient Corporation: Sapient organizes an annual event known as “Silent Auction”. Sapient employees offer a host of objects or services for auction to the office these could be things like paintings made by an individual, old art objects from home and other 'fun' services. The bidding process is silent (people go around a room and write their bid against lists provided and when the bell rings bidding closes). The money raised is given to Concern India, an NGO.

Camaraderie

• Mindtree Consulting: Whenever a new customer win takes place in the organization, the key person instrumental in the win rings a bell to announce the good news. MindTree Minds sitting in the area huddle together to congratulate the team for the effort.

• Sapient Corporation: Sapient has a practice known as “Team Storming”. When a team (project team or an internal team) has worked very hard, teams from across the office get together and storm the team with a 'goodies' basket to recognize the team and lift their morale.
